I'm in Edmonton, near the stadium. I've got the basis for a dozer project, and am exploring options for tracks. Right now, i'm stuck between building steel chain tracks from 120 chain and welded plates, or using the Nodwell style using used cinveyor belt/round baler belting and steel cleats. Haven't found any sled tracks cheap enoiugh to get.

I scrapped the skid steer tracks. I purchased a tracked skid steer, use it all the time. But I still have a small diesel, and plans to build a wheeled skid steer with Chevy or Ford rims and tires. That will be all hydraulic. I also have plans in my head to build a little electric skid steer tractor for my little boy. Where are you located?

I'm local, Have you had any progress with this build?
-
let me guess, youre from the south
-
put both short tracks in front and long in the back then u got it would be hard to power all tracks but still be cool i like the idea of useing snowmobile tracks period cool project
-
hold out long track
-
Did you mean build your own tracks or a new design with snowmobile tracks? Interested.
-
i have been thinking of building a tracked lawn tracktor but i would use two normal hydro static lawn tractors with the same trans and make it long tracked and use the things that make you go forward and bacward to stear also i have been thinking about adding secondary engines to that designe so if one failed you wouldnt be stuck in the mud when it does and also you could run all of the engines to add more horse power the the tank like design

Nice track-ter

How exactly would you STEER the long track version? On the second version I noticed the clearance was a bit close; you'll be pulling a lot of snow on the tracks and constantly scraping it off.
-
fucking stupid

I like what your doing,I already built one myself ( your second idea) it worked great, turned good, but it would get stuck in the snow because of the weight up front so I changed it to a full track design,it worked good to. don't let stupid people tell you it won't work. if you build it right it'll work, mine did and it kicked ass!
-
What did the short high tracks come off of? I was looking at old snow mobiles but I van never seem to find two of the same. That is why I wonder where yours are coming from so I have some more things to look for. Cheers and good luck!

@evinsteven13 I had to pay for it, or I traded something, don't remember, but good tracks are worth money, they wear out. I got a new track design going on now, should get it together this summer.
-
interesting, did you get the whole track and drive set up for free? I have been thinking of building something similar using snomobile drive parts, but I like the setup your using better.
-
put tho long track on back and 2 short tracks on front ?

do the 1st type u offered
