There is no defined "starting point" for cannon ammunition, but the weapon does fire A 14.5mm. This was used as an effective AA weapon, but its lighter caliber made it easily used by infantry as well. It was also used as a secondary weapon on tanks (as you know) and if i didnt mention it, a primary weapon on vehicles like the btr 80

@Saulscmit nope there not BMD's, There BTR-80's :)
-
BMD FTW
-
Such conventional russian equipment Thats what makes it so epic Zombie apcalypse? alien invasion? An arsenal of Russian weapons is the answer, including this 14.5mm Beast
-
@engaurd lol

The 14.5mm cartridge was used in soviet anti-tank rifles, heavy machine guns, and anti-aircraft multiple machine gun mounts during ww2 and later. It has about twice the muzzle energy of a US .50 caliber round. In ww2 it was used in the PTRD and PTRS anti-tank rifles. If you got hit with one you were hamburger !

@Omsbon in the movie it is a m2 for everybody not reading any futher down the comments

@emorocksit8 What?
-
@Omsbon the whole thing is a m2 50 cal even the flash hider
-
Best hmg ever disigned, simply. Imagine if russians had a 14.5 mg before ww2 began.. The fucking mess it would have been for nazi hehe, all panzers pierced (flank) at 500m, and of course all lighter vehicules.
-
Have to agree with Omsbon, it 's M2 alright

Dude, you're a fucking moron. If you put a flash hider on your dick, will it become a KPVT? How the hell did you figure out the caliber? Because the description in the movie says so? The same description says the caliber is 7.62x51. The rounds sticking out (mockups btw) were 20 mm. So what is it? The gun itself had a square receiver. The KPVT receiver is round. Fuck off, kid.
-
Ok, Mr. Omsbon. Maybe you should see the movie? The the dialog follows... Computer: "Good afternoon, How may we help you?" The Jackal: "I'm interested in an intermediate range system. High cyclic rate." Computer: "Man portable?" The Jackal: "Compact, vehicle mounted unit." Computer: "What caliber?" The Jackal: "No smaller than 7.62." Computer: "Available. 7.62 mm M134 electric gatling gun." The Jackal: "I prefer non-US equipment, single paralell system."
-
Watch the movie, go to imfdb(dot)com and stop posting bullshit.
-
Sorry Omsbon, byt you're wrong. In "The Jackal" the gun was a KPV 14.5 mm disguised as a non-existing ZSU-33 The M2 has a caliber of only 12.7 mm and the second thing is that the muzzle is cone shaped on a KPV and not on the M2
-
The Jackal gun was an M2 disguised as a non-existing ZSU-33.
-
It's whatever you decide it to be, there's no authority defining it. But these days, the line is normally drawn at 20mm.
-
14,5мм
