SINGAPORE: The Land Transport Authority (LTA) on Friday called a tender to study the engineering feasibility of developing the corridor for the Singapore leg of the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High Speed Rail (HSR) link. LTA said the study will "develop options for and assess the technical feasibility of the possible HSR corridors". This includes the transportation connectivity for the three possible HSR terminal station locations at the vicinity of Tuas West, Jurong East and the city centre. The appointed consultant will also be required to study the impact on existing transport facilities. The study is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2015. The Kuala Lumpur-Singapore HSR link was announced by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak at the Leaders' Retreat in February 2013. Both agreed that the HSR link will improve connectivity between Malaysia and Singapore and bring the peoples of both countries closer together, by facilitating seamless travel between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, and enhancing business linkages. The HSR link aims to cut the travel time between the two cities to 90 minutes. www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/kl-s-pore-rail-link/1068202.html
