Lloyd's Register of American Yachts for 1938 indicates Kestrel was built in 1928, delivered in 1929. But new owners inscribed "Kestrel 1929" on her new blocks. Are we to witness the curious phenomenon of history adjusted to cover an expensive goof?

Kestrel was owned successively by two prominent Yankee families -- Cabot and Tarbell.
