Also, can you attach a rear view camera and have this GPS unit be it's display too?

How does this Kenwood compare to the top of the line units from Alpine, Pioneer, Sony? I know the Kenwood uses the Garmin gps navigation system which I like. Sony uses the TomTom which is known for having problems. I need a GPS unit that is very accurate in routes, maps, directions etc.

@photofreak777 I have been reading reviews and watching every video on youtube I can find about the 9980 and from what I can tell, everything about the 9980 is better. Trying to navigate the ipod on the 7180 was impossible while driving. That is very important to me, and the home screen trying to scroll through the options of source on the 7180 I simply couldnt do it, could of been a flaw in the touch screen, but whenever I tried to just move to the left or right it chose wherever I placed my

I just traded in my DNX7180 today for the newer DNX9980HD because in the manual it states you can use the ecoroute hd cable with the DNX7180 it was a misprint in the Kenwood manual. So I am getting the 9980 mostly for the ecoroute gauges and diagnostics.

I have the DNX-7180 and I just purchased the ecoroute hd cable. I am running firmware 1.6 I do not have the option to connect the hd cable. I noticed in the video's to set it up. You need to press hd connection from navi, tools, ecoroute. Then you simply have you obd cable plugged in and you press hd connections from ecoroute's main screen. Did you have to do anything else? Was your HD connection just there in the ecoroute sub menu? My manual clearly states my unit works with ecoroute hd cable.
