I sure miss the ships during the Rose Festival. I never got a chance to tour one of the submarines when I was a kid, I guess those days are gone. Too bad. Back when there would be 6 or 8 U.S. ships, and a couple of Subs. Now were lucky If we get 1 or 2 Canadian ships. That's cool, but I do miss the huge beasts taking up the whole waterfront! Now we're afraid of rubber boats.

Before you start thinking how this was overkill lets remember the USS Cole was attacked by what amounts to a rowboat. Yes that was in a foreign port, but how hard is it really to get home grown explosives?
-
hey, there is Putin in the Kayak... :)))))) Sorry guys, but it seems this guys pie in their pants even when they see a kayak... :)))
-
Kayak'ers are evil people and the scourge of America's waterways. They need to be controlled because of their self entitlement issues.
-
Are people really taking bad about the coast guard....what has America come to....the main point of the coast guard is to save lives
-
Why is it that people have to go full retard in the youtube comments section.
All I see are people doing their jobs. No one was threatened. The Kayak went past a navy ship in a port, big deal. -
The 'threat' is created by the governments activities overseas, not by the people who pay for it.
-
How it should have happened: - "dirty portland hippies off the port bow, skipper!" - "ENGAGE!"
-
You are an asshole!
-
A standard Navy protection package since 9/11. IF there were nuclear missiles aboard, they'd never would have brought the ship into the city port. Too much risk. They offload any nuclear weapons out at sea before coming in.

"We can pickle that"
-
Honda USA, ever hear of 'em? They are manufactured within USA borders.
-
andd ???????
-
more action that any other branch when it comes to day to day stuff. Only because the Coast Guard is always doing something even in peace time.

Ever hear of 911, Boston Marathon Bombing, Viet Nam, World War 2. The USCG was one of the first components of the Department of Homeland Security and has been around for 223 years. Thousands of lives saved, Millions of dollars in property protected, not to forget protecting the United States from all enemies, foreign and domestic.
