de Havilland Heron VH-KAM @ Queensland Air Museum, Caloundra Airport, Sunshine Coast, Qld, Australia; one of 3 time-expired-spar Gypsy Q30 engined Herons Bob Bovill, Engineering Manager, and I inspected & purchased for A$50K for Connair, Alice Springs, from Fiji Airways (Air Pacific) in 1975; the aircraft were ferried to Alice Springs via Brisbane, re-sparred, re-engined with Lycoming IO540's & the 1st cab off the rank was sold to Don Kendall, Premiair, Wagga, NSW

I helped with most re-spar and conversion jobs ,and was Persident of the Connair Social Club for a term ,great days great mates and good memories . I recall fitting the Janitrol cabin heaters into the front luggage bay of the Herons ,not much room there ...and of course repainting the things into Eddies yellow white colour scheme Ah ............memories Fred W

@ThrashinThreads hey Lyn! had a great day today with Bruce and Lyn Macrae; you'll remember Bruce as a pilot and Lyn was accountant at Connair late 70's; they have a great B&B up at Maleny, Blue Summit Cottages; Annette and I took Bob Foreman along with us; lots of names covered and one which no one had any info on was Dorothy Bennett! do you have any update? and where are you located? So wonderful to see the Heron again. I was a Flight Attendant with Connair in Darwin and Alice Springs and flew hundreds of hours on this aircraft along with the DC3. Very fond memories of flights from Alice Springs to Cairns via Mt Isa. I enjoyed a wonderful and memorable lifestyle in Alice Springs with my colleagues from Connair, even though tragedy hit us all hard..... Lyn Wallace (Henebury)
