Machines | JJR Engineering Pendulum Prototype
videos | at work | information | view | construction
I'd just had a chat with one of the JJ Richards drivers in Caboolture and he mentioned there were a couple of pendulum packer trucks working in the area. After a minute of searching I closed in on this truck from the rear, drove around the side and up ahead. What I'd just seen was pretty interesting. The original thought of it being a regular Superior Pak turned into it being a different older version, but I noticed it was on a new ACCO, thought it was strange nothing was really painted up and suddenly it became a temporary mystery. After speaking with a couple of knowledgeable individuals, it turns out this is JJR Engineering's original pendulum packer side loader prototype. Along with the different packer, they also had a new lifter set-up on the side with a rotary actuator, which has been identified as the Mathers Hydraulics design or a look-alike. Then there's also a new body and tailgate design. I was told they produced a number of different pendulum packer variations which have been working in a few contracts across QLD, with the remaining few found under the Maroochy contract. Apparently JJR has decided to stay with the paddle packers, not sure about what's happening with the different lifter, but this compact body and tailgate is featured on some new trucks in at least the Gold Coast. So here's something a little different from under the "Richards Compactor" banner anyway. I also have a video of a bigger 35m version which has been painted up nicely, hopefully I'll come across a couple of the other models when I visit the Sunshine Coast. I was meant to catch up with the driver again in a different area for more footage, but I was busy elsewhere so only ended up with these two clips. Also quite a small world, I used to work with this operator at URM haha

Coobulture, QLD.

I would of thought JJR would at least paint the whole boddy and arm a gloss white, if they didn't want to use the company's colours, Because that little white piece on the door is nice, instead of that shit brown surface rust body that is really ugly.

Never compared it to a rear loader, but you're right there, only that one pushes down and the other pulls up.

Toldya I'd probably get this up haha Yeh got a video of that one on Flickr too, but that probably won't end up on here for a while yet.
