Machines | Japanese Type 11 LMG Disassembly
videos | at work | information | view | construction
http://www.forgottenweapons.com Theme music by Dylan Benson - http://dbproductioncompany.webs.com Thanks to the hospitality of the National WWII Museum in New Orleans, we had a chance to examine and disassemble a Type 11 light machine gun, chambered for 6.5mm Japanese. This is, of course, the very unusual hopper-fed design from Kijiro Nambu, which entered service in 1922. The action is largely derived from Hotchkiss guns, but the feed mechanism is unique to the Nambu.

wasn't there a machine gun either the allies or Germany used that could be fed with clips instead of a long belt? like a team would operate. one would shoot another would keep feeding it.
-
nice
-
would it be too much to ask to have this video downloadable?
-
Where did the empty clips in the magazine go as they were emptied?
-
that like worse version of Hotchkiss :DD
-
This LMG was truly very unique, i have never seen a hopper magazine LMG, of course i havent seen a pan-clipped rifle, i have seen the Degtyarev, but never a rifle, though... well... Degtyarev could easily be thought of as a rifle, it isnt the biggest weapon.

I wanted to see one of these and you were the first person I thought of THANK YOU your videos are great
-
i dont mean to detract from the video but did anyone else see gaylord on the top left box at the beginning of the video?
-
So the internal mechanism is almost the same as the type 92? If not so to say that the 92 is an upscaled type 11, when it comes to bolt and firing mechanism.
-
Ian I love how dirty you get those gloves every time you handle anything at the WWII Museum. How many times do you take those guns apart before you show us how to do it?
-
So is Ian left handed since that kind of use was mentioned?
-
11:41 why does the box to the left of the screen say gaylord?
-
Why do they cut the barrel like that ? Does it act like a heat sink?
-
Hi, do you have some other references about this gun?
Like pictures of internal parts,I need it for a 3d project.
Thanks for sharing. -
Have anyone notice the cardboard box on left side with the notable word on it " Gaylord "?
-
Isn't this a slightly bad idea to use 6 clips for 30 rounds? If they were to run out, i imagine it wouldn't take long to burn through all the ammo the other guys are carrying too
-
You know what really impresses me about your videos? The fact that you know so much about so many (and often totally unrelated) different guns and you are able to describe each of them so clearly and thoroughly. :) Keep it up.
-
Thanx for the quick response...adding even more complexity to and already overcomplex weapon...
-
What happens to the spent clips???

Thanks for sharing this. Most of us out here will never get the opportunity to personally handle, fire, or own a Nambu Type 11. If something were to break, you would kiss your butt goodbye as Brownell's probably would not have spare extractors or hopper parts. Not unless you could convince someone like Ohio Ordnance Works there would be enough of a collector/shooter market for a 6.5x50mm-Arisaka semi-auto only closed-bolt Nambu Type 11 hopper-fed "rifle."
