XD you all,you cannot judge Italian weapons without even try them !ps : Videogames does not count as a try. I shot with the Breda mod 30 and I can assure you that it's accurate ! The Carcano rifle is not as powerful as a K98 or a Mosin nagant, but still,it's accurate. Yeah I know what you all think : "But in Call of Duty the Karabiner is so powerful..." Hahaha, you make me laugh !

Strangely, both Italian and Japanese machine gun have inferior performance compare to german MG34, MG42 and the old MG08. And for the haters (especially the aha ones), although Italian and Japanese army had inferior equipment, their fighting spirit was still powerful compare to the allies!

Sapevate che la prima pistola a tamburo fu creata da un sardo nel 1833? Antonio Broccu, non chiese il brevetto,la creò ben 3 anni prima di Samuel Colt, che ottenne il brevetto.

As a group the Italian arsenal did was the most lackluster of the war. One probable cause was probably Italian ammunition quality because even the proven Carcano rifles were notoriously inaccurate because Italian manufacturers intermixed powders when mass producing ammo leading to bullet dispersion. The best weapon was the Breda 37 which was probably hurried into service because the Revelli 14/35 was seriously prone to problems. Italian designers had this strange affinity with delayed blowback weapons. The Breda 37 used a locking wedge similar to the Hotchkiss or Goryunov SG43. The Breda-SAFATs were "inspired" by John Browning's short recoil machine guns.

I really pity the Italian soldier of ww2, they get a lot of crap for performing badly compared to the other axis, in hindsight though Mussolini's wild goose chases in Africa(north African and Ethiopian campaigns) and the Balkans(albanian-greek campaign) arguably won the war for the allies by redirecting precious German troops when they were originally destined for places like the eastern front. Hitler not only literally rescued Mussolini(gran sasso raid) but Italy really did the allies a favor by opening up more fronts for the Nazi war machine, it has even been speculated that the Axis invasion of the Yugoslavia in April 1941 delayed Operation Barbarosa by a month meaning that if not for Italy then german troops may have arrived at Moscow before the harsh winter in December

Most of those mgs performed horribly.

I can't find good photos of S.I.A. 1918, really rare and interesting machine gun. I know about one surviving which placed in italian war museum.

Excellent. I had no idea the Italians made that many machine guns.
