Machines | Is A Throttle Body Spacer Worth It?
videos | at work | information | view | construction
In this video, I'm trying a throttle body spacer on my 2007 Chevy Trailblazer. I've never used one before, so I don't know what to expect. Is it worth it or not? That is the question I'm answering in this video. I have personally put a throttle body cars on a dyno. They absolutely nothing. I won't even get into the company jet and their ECU upgrades.
-
You really didn't put any comparison data into this test. How it feels to you means nothing really
-
Friend a query in which web page I can find this space for my Hyundai Tiburon GT V6 2.7

Great input. I was hoping for a dyno comparison but if your butt dyno only feels marginal throttle response increase, it's likely an actual dyno run would show the same. Like so many "cheap" performance parts throttle body spacers are for those who are truly trying to squeeze every last pony out of their motor. Not really intended for the bolt-on crowd. Good info., thanks for sharing.

Throttle body spacers can make a difference sometimes but the bottom line is they are ANNOYING AS HECK!

*all guessing

Should have dyno'ed it, so we're not

the radio is always the best and cheapest mechanic lol
-
hhmmmmmm.....if a 1/2 inch spacer helps, how bout a 12 inch spacer??? it's in your head dude , one of the oldest tricks in the book.
-
Hey Jeff in your opinion do you think a high performance throttle body is worth it compared to the OEM?
-
only time u get a whistle is if it's not making a good seal causing a leak.
-
throttle body spacer had a sticker ++HP bro lol
-
have any recommendations for a direct injected trottle body for a 13 impala? i was thinking of this mod just because i want that better low end response.
-
how many times can u say resonator lol
-
totally crap just like k&n filters.
-
So you're telling me that after spending thousands of dollars on research and development auto manufactures decided NOT to make the throttle body longer for better fuel efficiency and hp? Something is fucky.
-
pour some snake oil and will up your HPs to a 200%!

I have a 05 TB LT.. I won't call it a truck anymore, since I just bought an 06 chevrolet silverado crew cab fully loaded.. man just feels so much more stiff and lots more power.. of course I drove my TB forever, 339,000 miles on it, still runs good, a little weak now though.. and I suggest a after market transmission cooler.. my transmission fluid got into my coolant through a leak in the rattatior.. so it's been parked. loved it though.. Probably just needs a new rattatior, trans felt like it was slipping a bit, and the trans fluid was always running a bit warm, I use the torque android app to keep an eye on it.. buy a Bluetooth scan tool for $5 on ebay.. it's called an "ELM 327" SCAN TOOL.. clears service engine codes to, also will do a Web search if u have a code pop up and it explains ur problem and how to fix it.. best tool ever.. thanks have a great day everyone

just get nitrous and remove the resinator

Throttle body spacers are a complete waste of money. If it was that easy and cheap to improve the performance of your vehicle you would see manufacturers putting them on vehicles at the factory or they would just make the throttle intake a little longer. Spacers on older motors with carbs made a difference because the fuel was mixed with the air before being sucked into the intake manifold. A spacer allowed for better fuel atomization. On a modern engine the only thing going through your throttle body is air. The fuel is introduced right down at the valve opening or even directly into the combustion chamber on a direct injection engine. Therefore the spacer is not granting you any benefit. It's a gimmick that suckers a lot of guys into wasting money on their car and they think they've done something to improve the performance. It doesn't.
