INVERNESS (SCOTLAND), The Caledonian Canal: Let's take a tour of one of man's most incredible engineering accomplishments, the Caledonian Canal which connects the Scottish east coast at Inverness with the west coast at Corpach near Fort William. Vic Stefanu, vstefanu@yahoo.com. The Caledonian Canal connects the Scottish east coast at Inverness with the west coast at Corpach near Fort William in Scotland. The canal was constructed in the early nineteenth century by Scottish engineer Thomas Telford, and is a sister canal of the Göta Canal in Sweden, also constructed by Telford.

Fantastic video of the lochs at the Caledonia Canal.
It is amazing considering the amounts of lochs involved, the distance covered by these canals and of course how long ago these canals and lochs were originally constructed, and how far the technology has advanced since the original construction.
Here in Canada, where I live, there are similar lochs along the St. Lawrence River but perhaps not as many as the series of locks as the Caledonian Canal.
Yje lochs that I remember here in Canada are located along the St. Lawrence River
at the town of Beauharnois, in the Province of Quebec. The ships that travel on the St Lawrence Rover are much, much larger than the boats that I saw in your video of the Caledonian Canal, and the boats that use the lochs at Beauharnois are boats that
cross the Atlantic Ocean and transport freight..
