Machines | International Harvester 4X4 Dump Truck Save
videos | at work | information | view | construction
Ok, so we didn't save the whole thing, but we got all the important stuff. It was at the yard and ready to fall prey to the blue tip goons when we were able to strike a deal. We were buying by the pound, so we cut away everything we couldn't use. Hopefully we'll get back to it as it gets transformed into the "Trucktor Tractor". A genuine working farm tractor that'll do some good road speeds. Don't hold your breath though. That's a long way out. Gotta save 'em from the scrapper first.

Jim what ever happened to that old truck chassisy
-
always hitting the dam things haha. I guess it'll make it run

Here in UK, anything International is as rare as rocking horse shit, it would never been cut up. I used to have a IH stepside pickup, ex USAF, 1972 with a 392 in it. Great old truck, had that for about 3 years, a farmer in Wales bought it and wrecked it.

Reminded me of school buses of my time...didn't like school !!

On my last visit to the scrap yard I was looking for a complete interior for my 99 Cavalier, he had one and I ended up only having to buy the owner 2 cases of mountain Dew for it. :)

I used to drive one of these. It was a single screw tractor, called a Loadstar 1700 I believe. It had a gas V8 engine I think was
called a Red Power, and a 5 speed w/ 2 speed axle. Shame it couldn't have been saved and restored. -
I would kill for that truck. She would make a damned good welding truck...
-
I can't watch them destroy a nice truck. 1 less old truck left on the earth
-
Oh...I love this International.....I've seen one or two in my teens, donated to Burma govt by Canadian govt back in 70s....so tough like Rino...
-
I know it's to late now but to one of us IH nuts that windshield is worth 3 or 4 hundred bucks
-
So Jeff what happened with this rig when you got it home?
-
Glad you saved it Jeff. That mud reminded me of the place my friend worked. It would freeze overnight. Made for rough driving in the morning when I dropped him off.
-
I stopped the video when it said " cut it up"... owe....

@ 7:30 I sure ain't jealous of that homeowner in that green house. "nice view".
Your scrap yard guys are sure accommodating. Our scrap guys wouldn't pee on you if you were on fire. -
That would have been one cool truck to restore.
-
I have a 1973 loadstar 1700 4x4. I love my truck. even with her thirsty 345 and her stump pulling 7.17:1 gear ratio axles. wouldn't sell her for the world. they are awesome trucks. that cab could not have been that much heavier than what you ended up hauling out. I would of left her alone and restored it.
-
do you pay scrap prices for the parts ???
-
Are there any follow up videos to this?
I would have actually "Restored" this truck. It's far too unique to be chopping up and making a tractor out of. This guy chops up a rare IH 4x4 yet will rescue any old truck as long is it was made by GM since everyone knows how rare GM vehicles are. Yes, that last remark was sarcasm for all you slower individuals. -
Friends like that are hard to come by!
IHC claimed its the only motor which ran 100% load on dyno for 1000 hrs non stop. They had adds for 345v8 aiming this.. In glove box is paper which notes every part on that rig from factory . Sad to see it cut up. Did it have sealed frontAxel fwd universals? Mine did from Air force surplus .A lot of utility companies on east coast are going back to gas trucks. Diesel not worth it. Ford v10 and GM 6 liter bullet proof and cheap.to.fix.
