We were building a pond last summer and the dump truck didn't have quite enough power to make it up the hill on its own. So not wanting to tear the clutch out of a truck that isn't mine, I got out and the bossman tried to persuade it up the hill and was harder on it than I thought I should to be. We couldn't back up because there was a hole and a pile of clay behind the truck but we finally got it close enough to the top with the assistance of a Bobcat S185 so that we could back into the bottom and get a run out of the pit. The truck is a 1991 International 4900 with a mechanical DT466 and a 10 speed manual Eaton tranny. It has air brakes, spring suspension, air horns, no A/C, no heat, no radio, a stack (my favorite part), and is nicknamed "Red Thunder" because at idle the whole cab and dash shakes and rattles badly due to all the abuse it has taken over the years. Its not the best looking truck but its reliable and makes a good amount of power. I'd prefer to drive it over the newer trucks.
