Machines | Inside the Foxhound light patrol vehicle - the army's replacement for the Snatch Landrover
videos | at work | information | view | construction
The Telegraph has been given an exclusive look inside the Foxhound, the replacement for the Snatch Land Rover, by Andy North, chief defence engineer at Ricardo. The Snatch Land Rover came in for heavy criticism in Afghanistan as it left troops exposed to the explosives devices deployed by the enemy, and the vulnerability ultimately led some special forces soldiers to label the vehicle lethal to those inside and useless on operations. The Foxhound, designed jopintly by Formula 1 engineers Ricardo and Force Protection Europe, owned by US giant General Dynamics, has drawn on cutting edge engine technology along with British boat building know-how to develop a V-shaped armoured hull designed to safeguard those inside from roadside bombs. too bad it has rear wheel steering...just something to break, that is not needed, yet justifies charging more.

Only one way in, one way out. You're buggered if you need too get out! Man in a suit, typical "used car salesman".

no one will want that crap as a toy.

It is just like a copy/paste from the American MRAP!

And this is the kind of thing which personally makes me Proud of Britain. U see that this project brought Britains best car and vehicle manufacturers together from all across the UK to share ideas and opinions, combine skills and methods, all to create a new and awesome military vehicle which could save our soldiers lives. This is something Scotland will never have again if it goes independent. Its a worrying time and I hope we stay together. Awesome vehicle though!
