Machines | Hybrid Electric Vehicles and Regenerative Braking
videos | at work | information | view | construction
Dr. Ken Stanton, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, Colorado State University, provides a presentation about regenerative braking in advanced electric vehicles. This is one part of a series of lectures about Plug-in/Hybrid Electric Vehicles presented at the Professional Development STEM Workshop for middle and high school teachers in July 2012, "Energy, the Environment and Transportation".

Dude... You just mentioned a breaking method and (maybe) didn't notice it. When your student broke the hand crank...by short circuiting the motor. Just do that to your drive motors at each wheel in an ABS brake fashion. It would require a system to regulate by controlling the short circuit voltage and timing but might just beat conventional breaks! You could also blend it with regeneration to get the most power out too. Any response would be help full. Thanks!
