Machines | Humvee Shootout! Banks Power Armored Humvee vs. Stock M1116 HMMWV! - Head 2 Head Ep 43
videos | at work | information | view | construction
On this episode of Head 2 Head, Jonny Lieberman pits an American icon against itself. Since 1984 AM General's Humvee has served as the U.S. Military's primary multipurpose workhorse. However, after adding nearly three tons of armor plating, the already slow, ill handling beast gets slower and clumsier. One solution is to replace it with a new truck, but that would cost us a fortune. The other comes from Banks Engineering, which adds more sophisticated turbocharging as well as a revised, active suspension. If the Humvee is going to go down in history as the truck version of the B-52, it needs upgrades similar to what Banks is selling. That said, the Banks Humvee does cost a good deal more than the base Humvee. However, it's a much cheaper alternative to something like an MRAP or the Oshkosh L-ATV. But is it that much better than the regular production Humvee? Watch and find out! I gotta ask, why don't the Humvees come with stock at least no less than 350 hp for the weight of it? Too much fuel consumption?
-
16:42 The other isn't civilian but factory stock for military use.
-
Only 190 hp from an V8 with over 6 liters of displacement, was to slow even for it first years of service back in the 80's. Even the 240 hp after the upgrade is a laugh (someone tries to squeeze some money). I know that the machine was built to be able to maintain constant speed over diverse terrain and not be to complicated so it could be repaired easy, but still a laugh in the hp output department.

Banks is fucking high if he honestly thinks this idea is viable
-
so, gearing is what made those miserable engines tolerable for all those decades?
-
Lol no stock truck could climb that? My gmc 2500HD work truck would climb that no problem. Also to show the viewers download the pitch gauge app on your phone place it on the dash and it would show the viewers the angle you are climbing

This probably would be better to be used during the presidential inaugurations.

Braking..."it's pretty much the other guys' problem LOL!"

Guys, these are supposed to resist EMP Pulses from nucular bombs. They cant do this with all these computers. your best bet is to Turbocharge the engine twice, put on bigger turbos and then give it a higher literage. My friend has a hummer with a 10.5 liter turbocharged diesel engine, making 650lb ft of torque with no computer.
-
just rip the drivetrain out from the 2016 3500 GM HD trucks and cram it in.

nitto mud grapplers on that hummer looks sick!
