This "live action" video shows the OSHA Certification explosion testing of our latest tire inflation cage that is designed for large Earthmover and Agricultural tires. The 29.5R25 L-3 Earthmover tire with its three piece steel wheel are inflated to 150-psi and then experiences a sudden release event inside the cage. Watch the cage absorb the explosion and contain all of the tire and wheel components exactly as it was designed to perform at regular speed and in slow motion. New features of this inflation cage are "PATENT PENDING". Cage part number 36011.

Was that a split rim? That happened back in the 60s to a dad and son at a gas station airing up a big tire like that and killed both of them. They didn't have a cage for it back then. Now I know why my buddies that own a garbage business bought one of those.

I like how they put large boxes of shrapnel around the cage. I guess they were demonstrating how much confidence they have in the ability of the cage to contain the blast.

My initial thought is why use round tubing if the force will essentially be only in one direction. Why not use something with a larger moment of inertia in that direction?
