Machines | How Were the Pyramids Built?

Key aspects of pyramid construction from quarry to completion. Check out Audible: http://bit.ly/AudibleVe Live show in Alabama: http://bit.ly/VeRAOI The most common misconception about the pyramids is that they were built by slaves. Recent archeological evidence suggests they were instead constructed by paid workers. Some may have performed this work as a form of tax payment for several months of the year. Skilled engineers would have planned and orchestrated the building. An estimated 10,000-20,000 people would have been working on a pyramid at any one point in time. They were well fed and provided with shelter near the pyramids. Plus their burial sites close by indicate they were respected and were not slaves. Much of the limestone was quarried from the Giza plateau itself, meaning the stones did not need to be transported far. The granite casing of Menkaure's pyramid, on the other hand, was transported from Aswan, around 600 miles, or 1000 km up the Nile. Speculation aside what does anyone actually know concerning the pyramids?

“What if instead of dragging a block of stone one by one, why didn’t they just drag the whole pyramid across the desert? They would have finished it in one swoop!”
Here are the calculations:
2.3 million stones, each weighting an average of 2 tons!
It would be 4.6*10^9 kg!
You will need to exert 3.8 million horsepower to make it move across the desert!
And that equals to the power of 10,000 strong men to move it for 2 kilometers but the job would be finished in less than an hour!
Theoretically possible! But will such a structure hold together during it? -
this video sucked

It is not a suprise to speculate that the ancient civilization now known as Egypt was indeed build by slaves labour, putting in mind the massive magnitude of the obvious heavy labour intensive work input into the final erection of the then magnificent architectural structures and cities in Africa.
A little more than 6000 years later we see a totally new reality beign erected in the middle east such as Dubai, by Pakistani slave labourers who had to work overtime extra hard and intensivelly to just pay expenses for their paid for passports and the cost of dwelling inside chicken like filthy enclosures accomodations.
Their entire combined contract earnings they finally got couldn't even be compared to a single cheapest race horse expenses in food, medical care and living accomodation conditions for just 1 month royal luxury living.
So yes labour intensive work has always if not been done by hard working poorly feed and living conditions slaves. With the rich and their horses taking all the credit living in luxury sky scrappers and castles.
Just like wars heavily brain washed, patriotic nationalistic indoctrinated and poor peoples children are always sent in the front lines as soldiers to fight for rich mans wars. Wars of which they always get injured and must get very emotional and life changing physical imputations. They also get permanently and psychologically traumatised and even die without knowing the real reason why they went fighting these brute wars of aggression far away from home in the first place. -

I don't think there were really civilizations that ever didn't have the wheel within the past 4000 years (prbly longer).
Much rather it was a conscious decisions that some cultures made such as the Tibetans because it went against their spiritual values. They believed the wheel sped daily life routines up too much and that went against the introspective culture of the Tibetans, they did however come up with the Prayer Wheels to speed up their prayer routines.
Native Central American and Mayans I guess you could argue had no evidence of wheels in their culture but even they built pyramids and temples somehow, I think they prbly had access to them as well.
If they had math and astrology and rather large scale cities how could you possibly believe they never conceived the idea of a wheel? Kinda absurd in my mind. -
May be they knew how to make wooden wheels.....wooden wheels may not have been able carry the weight of granite
-

After learning about how the pyramids were built with a ramp inside the structure it makes much more sense than the old wraparound scaffolding I saw in books as a kid.
