all emissions do is wreck your car. hell they got better fuel economy in regular mode then they did in emissions cheating mode, less fuel consumption is the better of two evils.

This whole video is presented ass backwards!
these cars are in cheat mode when the drivetrain module sees ALL FOUR wheels in motion - when they "hacked" the module to see only two wheels in motion, the car is in TEST MODE.
That's why the car shows better mileage and performance WITHOUT their "hack"

the estimated mpg's on my new car sticker was 43 on my 2014 Passat. it's actual is almost 48 highway.

Why does it get less mpg, if it makes less power? Aren't those usually mutually opposing factors? Is it an efficiency issue?

Folks, if you look on the Court Approval notice, they have two notices one has 29 pages and one has 32 pages. Look on pages 28-29 and 25-26. You can tell the court that you do not like the court settlement . You must submit your disagreement before September 16, 2016. Take care...Dave

Personally I dont give a damn. I dont have a volkswagen anymore. I had an old jetta and the dealership wanted 90 bcks for an oem wheel bearing. I bought generic replacement one for 15 bucks each. They told me at the sealership it had a lifetime warranty if using their mechanic. So $90 each plus labour. I did it myself. Even if I had to replace it 6 times by myself it still woulda been cheaper.

it's disturbing how people make a bigger deal out of this and the gm ignition issue which killed over 124 people but people forget about that. The toyota/lexus sudden acceleration issue which also killed people. The only people who deserve money are the consumers. the government dosent deserve shit.

But their results were about what I expected, with the exception of the new car's acceleration, I thought that'd take a bigger hit. I love the "dropped to 50mpg" lol that's still freaking incredible. All these clueless people just believe whatever fear mongering the TV tells them.

cars were bought based on EPA economy and VW power ratings . Getting better economy is a perk; going back to EPA economy is not an issue . Reducing power 10% still makes it similar to competitors . I plan to maintain my Passat diesel and keep it for 700,000 km, avoiding one car purchase while getting great mileage savings (in Canada)
