Machines | How Torque Converters Work! (Animation)
videos | at work | information | view | construction
The torque converter is often seen as the most complicated part in vehicles of today. It is, however, a very important component of automatic transmissions. This animation explains the theory behind this complex component. Contents 1) Torque converter impeller 2) Blades and fluid of impeller 3) Centrifugal forces caused by rotation of impeller 4) Torque converter turbine 5) Fluid flow between impeller and turbine 6) Fluid coupling 7) Torque converter stator 8) Housing, lock-up clutch and shaft 9) Stages of operation: stall, acceleration, coupling

How Torque Converters work (short version): like pure dogshit. So much power, drivability and efficiency lost just for a bit of convenience. Nothing beats a clutch and manual transmission, except other better clutch systems. Don't be a lazy cunt and learn to drive manual for fucksakes. It's not that much harder, and you can drive practically and buy any car.

Really good amination and explanation! Waiting for more videos related to the fluid power!
-
thanks for helping by this demonstration, brother
-
This gave me another reason to dislike Automatic and appreciate manual transmission more lol
-
Wow, what an incredible and brilliant machine.
-
Explained very good. Thanks mate.
-
Can you share what you used to create the animation? I am trying to get started making my own videos. Any advice or input is greatly appreciated.

Sir please make a vedio on variable geometry turbocharger .
-
i dont believe oil flung can produce any force
-
awesome explanation
-
Nice animations and a great explanation. Thank you.
-
You the man. Your explanations are awesome. This helps at least half the world that does not have any idea of what there is under a hood! ;-)
-
This is awesome!
Would it be desired to have more viscose fluid at higher or lower velocity? -
Great explanation, thank you. Finally makes sense and makes me appreciate my manual transmission so much more!
-
wait, during the stalling stage, does the fluid ever gets too hot??
-
Ah YouTube, 139,865,329 cat videos...
But for every 1000 cat videos, there is one really useful video like this one. Great job!! -
im lost at how exactly the rpm is converted into torque...my brain hurts
how does impeller splashing the fluid causes the torque to increase?? I can only see losses of energy instead -
Admit it! You are here thanks to Christian Von Koenigsegg.

kinda lost ,,can any help me with infor about how a torque divider works
-
i have my exams, and guess what this help me a lot, thanks thomas :)
