Machines | How to Unload trailer with winch - (DIY) Do it yourself dump trailer
videos | at work | information | view | construction
Here is a quick video I made showing how to unload your trailer with a winch/ do it yourself dump trailer. I mounted a 2000lb manual winch to the tongue of my trailer to unload it using ropes, pulleys and a winch. It has a 2:1 mechanical advantage pulley system so it is easier on the winch but just takes a bit more rope and time to unload. Check out some of my other videos on tree removal. Good stuff. Effort is free. A good idea is priceless....Good work, unloading sucks.....I have a tree I tie off to and drive away....Then throw on the fire. I too am not a young man...51 yrs..I still work my tail off trying to get enough capitol to grow the business. Nice Ideas.

Very Cool. I love the simple design and yet it is so powerful. I'm looking for a similar system for my trailer.

necessity is the mother of all invention. Way better than unloading each branch by hand. If you end up eventually going to an electric winch don't get a harbor freight. Milemarker makes really good winches, $300 for an 8k winch when I got mine 5 years or so back, and it's paid for itself 100 times over. I've drug over 300 vehicles onto my trailer with it, parbuckled countless logs, used it behind my nissan for implements every year--drag snow plow, drag box blade, skidding logs and even pulling my big diesel up the hill more than a few times when chains on all 4 tires weren't enough in the snow. Thanks for the video.

very nice time saver especially during the winter - also using a hand winch in a small dump trailer I built (never thought of rigging it under the trailer!)

Nice invention. Good video.
What I do is.... I simply attach my rope to something solid/heavy in the dump area......put my truck in gear and DRIVE AWAY!
Self unloads! Fast and easy. -
I like the system I have been battling whether to buy a dump trailer or not and I think this just changed my mind. Did you fabricate up the mounting bracket for the winch or is that a repurposed bracket for something else?

Thanks for the encouragement and positive words Samuel! I am 32 so not super young but I definitely hear you with the governments saying what they are saying. Good on ya for working your butt off to get you business going. Hoping to be at the point where we have trucks and equipment one day!

How old are you, if you don't mind my asking? Curious cause I keep hearing politicians say how lazy this generation is and therefore it's OK to flood the country with illegal immigrants. I know you are in Canada, but I know you have many similarly hardworking brothers in the US as well. Your parents should be proud. Started my tree business in NJ with a 2'×4' nursery cart, on foot, so I feel qualified to send you some encouragement.

Thanks for checking it out, glad you like.

Nicely done, I like it.
I know its not particularly fast but its still better than unloading it bit by bit.
Thanks for sharing.
