How would i know if its a head gasket or a valve cover gasket.

one way to tell is checking the oil. if it is cloudy or milky with bubbles. most likely a blown head gasket. also check the bottom of the oil fill cap for waxy buildup. the coolant will be a darker color as well as black gunk on the radiator cap.
