Hey. Great stuff. Good luck to you. Strange question. I live for car design. Started when I was 3 and got extremely good at it then had an accident and lost my sight. Fast forward about a decade and I am now 30 and can't stop myself for a few hours even without visualizing designs. I have to do it. Is there any school or institute out there that can help a guy like me?

I have to disagree with enforcing the point that you are not the best or the worst out there. Of course, in a light, this is true, but if you focus on that point, you will never develop your own design language. You will always be one of the crowd. You only become great when you take pride in being different. Great designers got where they are because they are fresh - they invested in themselves and didn't care where the rest of the industry was going. Im in engineering and my first professor basically gave the same advice - "you will never come up with something new"... how depressing is that?

It does not take me 5 years to develop a car. It takes me 9-14 months max.

This may sound a little strange but I build full scale cars for on road use and design them from my head straight into the clay. I never really learned how to draw. This is a skill I should really learn but I am WAY BETTER in 3D than in 2D on a bit of paper. I have also never done 3D small scale models in clay. I have always done everything in full scale. For some clients this has been a bit of a problem because they really don't know what I am doing until they see the full scale design in clay. But this has an advantage of letting the client make what ever changes he wants once he has seen it in the flesh. Some clients have a rough sketch of what they want and I just work from that. My videos show the process I use.

I've wanted to be a car designer since I'm a kid and I've done tons of drawings since. I went to fine arts in a pre-university college and was succesful, but I'm almost 29 yrs old now. Do you think I'm too old to pursue a career in car design?
