Machines | How to get an even coat of paint with spray cans
videos | at work | information | view | construction
Hey guys! I’m Brad, and I make how-to videos. I do custom painting projects, guitar painting, airbrushing, spray can painting, wood working, and a variety of other finishing work and tutorials. Please subscribe and check out my channel for more! This video is meant to help those who are doing paint jobs with spray cans rather than paint guns. It is always best to use paint guns when trying to get an even coat of paint, particularly on a large surface. I hope this video will be useful to those who don't have access to such equipment. This should hopefully answer some of the questions that arose pertaining to my video about painting guitars with spray cans as well. The paints that I used in this video were both enamels and are made by rustoleum. The black is a semi-gloss. I recommend using matte black if you are intending to paint over it, particularly if you plan on waiting more than an hour or so. This will allow for better mechanical adhesion, although the paint should adhere chemically if you are using solvent based material. Don't forget to ask your questions or submit video questions if you want to show me something. Thanks for watching. I like to use krylon fusion, it comes with a fan tip that can be rotated.

Great vid, you helped explain a bit at the very end that I was after about splatter.. I find when I'm spraying I will get the occasion drip 'splatter' drips in the nice smooth areas I have done and ruin the entire piece mainly because of the nozzle tip. I have found if I press down further back on the tip and not right in the middle of the tip that this helps a lot to stop that and the spray seems to be much more finer and better. But I was wondering about the tips.. do you swap them over for finer or wider spraying tips? I have seen people talking about buying different tips but confused about what ones and if they are then re-used or thrown away after they are used?

Thank you for this video! I was so frustrated with the blotchy shiny/matt spotting on a desk I was spraying gloss black. I needed to SEE how to do it. This works!

Logged in just to say thanks. " ) Repainted a counter top table using Rust-Oleum's Ultra cover and your tips. Gets a little tricky extending beyond your normal reach and switching to a fresh finger. But it turned out great. " ) Continuing to move that wet spot with over lap, is what did it. Go Brad!

Brad, great video!..if you were painting a rear truck fender with a spray can, would you start at the top rail and go all the way across, or make strokes as long as your arms can reach?

I got paint running grrrr, you made it look easy. I'm trying everything. it's not flat so the paint drips down

If you don't mind i want to ask: Can i spray paint on an already painted guitar body? (was painted with nitro lacquer), i mean i'll sand it and epoxy some scratches and stuff and then paint with spray. Or do i need to remove the nitro entirely? Thanks in advance.

You're a great spray painter - I've used most every paint medium there is and I still find spray cans the most difficult to work with. Great job.
