windchill won't effect a machine in that, you can't cool below ambient air temp. So if its... 32 windchill of 20, the machine will never get below 32, but it will get to 32 faster, so ya wind has an effect but... The diesel fuel now sucks (ULSD) really lacks lubrication. No affiliation, I use opti lube, for day to day, years ago and independent test was done, they were the best at adding back the lube. They have done some out of house testing since then, the concerning part is the pump diesel that was used was out of spec (aka what we are buying and putting into our trucks)... The winter stuff costs about as much as power service (as ps says to 2x the dose under 32 or something for anti gel) and in the summer 1 gallon does 2500gallons of fuel (or if you 2x it, 1250 still not bad). I run it in everything I have here, no issues. 911 is all I know of when that "oh shit" kicks in... I also like the fact that it is a water demulsifier not a emulsifier like power service, why do you want water running though the fuel system... makes no sense to me.

Stratton works very well to

I use tectron on my machines

try pfs fuel additive. I'm in western North Dakota and run standard pump diesel all year and never add #1. This stuff will drop you carbon in the exhaust by about 78%. I have had NO exhaust filter problems since running it and never froze up. It's maid in MT. The company owner is wonderful to work with and takes extreme pride in having the best product for this region. I did hydraulic and diesel filtration for a living fir the oil field and other industries and run this stuff to this day. One small bottle treats 60 gallons of fuel and that's exactly how much you should use it with.

The best way I've found is to,prevent fuel gelling run number 1 with howes antigel. Put in Lucas fuel additive to add lubricity to the fuel and you should be golden. I run in my pickup, tractors and semis. If you feel your machine start to gel up either dump 911 in the tank or use a product called fuel melt. Both have worked amazing for me. also putting a winter front on pickups and semis and covering up areas around filters to keep heat in helps tremendously too

i had a chevy diesel that the block heater shorted out. i stoked the woodstove up hard then got a short metal pail and filled it up with coals and put it under my engine bay and a shop light on top the engine. fired up after an hr or so

I have had got to a job site and my skid steer wont start and it is the diesil being frozen I have to go to the shop and get heaters so I can defrost the fuel and takes for ever. I think I will use the idea with the exhaust. thanks

Who u call 9.1.1 if your gas froze lol

I mix 2 stroke oil, kleen diesel additive, and iso heet ( red bottle) and add it to my transfer tank. I have never had a problem with any of my equipment. I also have a 1970's backhoe which I run fuel oil in, that gets the same treatment. Your injection pumps will love the 2 stroke oil.

Using a fuel/water separator wil help you.
You can use thermal pads on the filters too. -
Hey I messaged you on messenger can you please reply to me
-
nothing against the $8 hr clerk at the station but for piece of mind you need to use power service white bottle or Howes as soon as it start to get cold out. it may take a couple tanks to work the moisture out of your system. and yes keep a red 911 bottle in your vehicle once it starts the stutter song dump it on fast.

Thank's for the heads up! Great information for new heavy equipment owners.

Do you have an engineering degree?
-
can you review that dewalt jacket please

Howes is a good product for anti gel. Very cost effective as well. Like stated before 911 works well for dethawing fuel. But harsh and "dry" on injector components. Especially in a high pressure common rail system.

Have you heard of Amsoil's Diesel Recovery? It's their version of the red bottle 911. And also Cold Flow is their Diesel Treatment.
