How To Change & Inspect Spark Plugs. How to change spark plugs in an inline four cylinder engine. Changing plugs in a 1999 Acura Integra is a fairly simple job, however there are some tips along the way worth understanding. There’s several things you’ll want to look for while inspecting spark plugs. The electrode may be worn out, you may often see it rounded rather than flat. You want to check the plug gap, using a simple tool. For my car the recommended gap is 1.1 mm, you can check your owners manual for this information. You want to look for oil fouling or carbon deposits around the spark plug tip. It’s also a good idea to inspect the gasket where the plug seals with the head, and make sure the electrode insulator is not cracked. It’s important to replace the plugs with what the manufacturer recommends. NGK recommends not using any anti-seize compounds on the plugs, as the lubricant may cause the installer to over torque the plug. The NGK plugs have a zinc shell plating that is designed to prevent seizure to the cylinder head, as well as prevent corrosion. Often plugs with a shiny appearance have a special coating, thus not requiring the use of anti-seize. Cheaper plugs with a darkened or dull appearance typically will not have a special plating, and in this case it is recommended to use anti-seize. I am a subscriber and really like your channel. General question on 4 cylinder 1. 5 L How can I insure a good lean burn for fuel economy? Thanks

thanks

what also would work just as good as anti seize his aircraft grade graphite, is it would still allow the plug a good grounding base to the head.

Hey Jason, what if you did a video on the different types of spark plug tips. Like you know, are they worth buying or what their use is for, etc.

I have a question about my 04 Dodge intrepid I had trouble taking off one spark plug and when I finally got it off there was looks to be rubber or plastic ring down where the spark plug set at and also some deposit what is that and also how can I get that out I don't have air to blow it out what is a good way to get it out without dropping in the engine
-
I replaced the spark plugs and wires on my 05 ford Taurus and now the engine cuts off when I put it in reverse or drive. However, it stays on when in park. Any clues to why?

Are there any other mods you are doing to your car? Perhaps forced induction, further weight reduction, fuel pump, injectors, etc.? Also, did the tower braces end up making any real difference?
-
i also agree with the anti seize info, but the rest of the film was "non-impressive".....

Do NGK- iridium spark plugs reduces engine vibrations ?
-
No I don't have a torque wrench and I bet it's pretty expensive.

do bog standard plugs work just fine or do better ones make any difference? ?
-
Thank you. I was taught how to check and install spark plugs wrong. This will definitely help me prevent engine damage in the future

bubed awesome indepth vid, thanks man
-
in my car spark plug siezed and not removing
please help me how do i remove them and replace new one
thanks -
Maybe you could explain differences between spark plug types (i.e. iridium), heat ranges, etc. For example, for me changing spark plugs to colder ones helped fighting engine overheating after cylinder head skimming (when changing timing didn't help at all).

I drive a 2003 Toyota Camry. Same steps as in this video? No tuning or anything?
