An MG is a fully automatic design mounted or portable device, designed to fire in rapid intervals, usually supplied by a belt or magazine which is more than 20 rounds. Rates of 300 to 1800 rounds per minute are normal for most applications. Its usually to fire-suppress an area to allow troops flanking movements, but direct advancing uses are also effective.
