Machines | HOW IT WORKS: Car Transmission (720p)
videos | at work | information | view | construction
This educational video describes how a car transmission works in modern vehicles. In mechanical engineering, a transmission is a mechanical device that uses gears to improve mechanical efficiency, employing the ancient concept of the lever. Its a machine that requires a power source and a power transmission system, which provides controlled application of the power, automatically or manually. Often the term "transmission" refers simply to the gearbox that uses gears and gear trains to provide speed and torque conversions from a rotating power source to some other kind of mechanism, such as a differential, which would apply that power to the wheels. how come people are giving thumbs down? this is excellent material

Jeez Nicki - Glad you weren't my teacher. As a fully professionally qualified engineer - I can honestly say the GREAT thing about this sort of video is that it fires the imagination.
MY imagination was fired in electronics when I was 6 years old. Also in music.
within a few years by the age of 10 I was building complex radio sets, playing guitar and piano ... reading many books, working confortably with fairly advanced arithmetic and mathematics ...all because I saw the equivalent of this video in a radio magazine .
OF COURSE its skilled work ... but everyone has to acquire those skills ... and firing the imagination at a young age is the start of it. -
Why did people talk so weird back then
-
nice presentation.
-
Love the old video popping sound
-
WOW... this old video made me understand even better than today video / education.

raise acceptable proper butter interior Supreme promising acquire into error.
-
The lever should also bear a huge bending moment XD

Why was it european americans who brought the great innovation of automobiles to the world? Much research suggests that the industrial revolution was due in most part to the "protestant christian work ethic and the spirit of capitalism". This more than any other factor brought ingenuity to society over the centuries...

this is amenzing

Glad that sort of can opener is no longer familiar.
-
nice simple demonstration, thanks

Table tower should target laser.

I'm going to get my 1st manual soon. A 2014 v6 Mustang. Watching this video helped me get a complete understanding of how a transmission works down to the simplest level. With that being said: this will aid me so much when I go to start my practicing. Understanding the friction zone of the clutch and all. NOW I can picture the parts moving together in the transmission. Why can't they break things down like this these days!? Simplifying things like this helps us simple thinkers understand better. A lot of people confuse simplicity with stupidity and those are nothing alike. Simplicity is just the opposite of complexity. That's all. Now I realize how simple a transmission actually is.

What made old stuff like this better is the systematic and logical way they explained everything bit by bit, clarifying not only WHAT was going on and HOW it was done but also WHY---which to me is the most important part.

give me a brake!
-
practically bag horse slam behavior customer
-
The picture for this clip shows an automatic transmission yet the clip is about manual transmission. tsk tsk tsk
