Hi Shannon, this video is very good to understand the different options. We bought an old house, that was supposed to have a finished basement but appears to be the former owner just covered the walls with drywall over 1x4 boards. My husband and I have been thinking in place some rigid insulation sheets on top of the drywall and then add some more drywall on top. We live in some place in Canada where the temperature drops to -50 C in winter. I wonder if this could be a good idea or it is better just remove everything and start from scratch? Thanks in advance for any ideas

Shannon, when you poly this wall do you use acoustical just at the top, bottom, sides or do you seal off the center on the sill between frame wall and cement section with acoustical too?
-
Thanks man.

Shannon: did you leave a space behind the rigid foam board or is it all the way pushed in against the concrete wall? I hope to use the foarm board in between the studs of my basement walls, however can I do that where the exposed studs and plywood "substrate" is behind the house siding above the short wall?

Hi guys, my question is about insulation on a box truck.. I'm in England which means hot summers and cold winters, I was planning on using Celotex insulation boards on the ceiling, walls and floor. What I now need to know is what condensation/vapour barrier to use and where to put it ? Some people are saying it needs to go next to the outer wall and some are saying next to the inner ply wall but thats due to hotter and colder weather.... ARRGGHH !!! Another person recommended a vapour retardant sheet but wasn't sure if it should go next to the inner or outer wall since we'll be getting hotter and colder weather over here... Pleeeeeeeeease tell me you have a 100% correct answer ?...

I am adding a 12x12 room over a concreat slab what is the best in material to use on floor, walls I have a tight budget,I need it to be light enough for me a lady to handle, tks

Spray foam insulation could be toxic if not installed right .. Rather go with the bad insulation or the sec option

Hello, is it true that using the spray foam on the entire house for new construction is a bad idea, because it will not allow the home to breath and also you cannot run wires in the future? A builder recently told me this when I was looking into what insulation to go with for my new home build. Thanks!

What kind of spray foam did you use, and where could I get it from? I live in USA, Michigan. Also average cost on the foam spray kit you used in your other video? Thanks Shannon.

Any chance in the future for a video on retrofitting insulation? I was contemplating cellulose, but I was curious on what your preference & method would be for the job. Thanks!

how many inches thick is that board insulation

can I use spray foam as a sealant and put fibreglass Batts over it?

hi great video. I'm turning my garage into a work studio/ grandkids playroom . it already has drywall installed . instead of tearing down the drywall I wanted to add another layer of drywall but in between them add some kind of insulation. what do you recommend .

I have crawl space(that sits above the ground on a slab) that needs an insulation overall, it has pink insulation only under floor of the living room, kitchen and dining room, however the 3 foot walls supporting those areas has no insulation.... So, i want to redo the entire crawl space to make seal tight, will that be a problem since its a not area we use at all...should we worry about mold build up or fire possibilities? Next which will be the most likely product to use(i saw the video) but still not sure which one....My crawl space has 2 x 2 wooden frames but not stone wall barrier...I am thinking...that I can remove all of the pink insulation and just some kind padded insulation and sealed it in?...can you send me a step by step....what the names of the types of pdding i use, money is not the problem, so finding the correct padding solution is....peter_zylstra@yahoo.com
