A compilation of videos and photos of the HETS (Heavy Equipment Transportation System). The Heavy Equipment Transporter System (HETS) transports tanks and other heavy tracked and wheeled vehicles to and from the battlefield. The M1070 tractor and M1000 semi-trailer, replaces the M911/M747 HET system as the Army's latest model HETS. The M1070/M1000 HETS was developed to accommodate the increased weight of the M1 Abrams Family of Main Battle Tanks. The M1070 provides line-haul, local-haul and maintenance evacuation on and off road during tactical operations worldwide. largest convoy we had in the 1498th ( arabic writing on the sides of the hood) 96 HETs, I was in one of the lead trucks hauling a 73 ton armored D9, we scraped the bottom of three overpasses in Baghdad, and their overpasses are taller than ours

Top speed (unless you tweaked them) was 45 mph, now anyone can buy one. scary to think that someone who has never driven anything bigger than a mini truck can now be driving a M1070.

This is Def . After my time in the Army { 79' - 86' } . We had the original M915 series { M915 thru M920 } assembled by AM General . The Oshkosh's at That time however , looked totally different .
