Machines | Heavy equipment move in Prudhoe Bay
videos | at work | information | view | construction
A trio of drilling rig support buildings moving through the Prudhoe Bay oilfield. At least one the trucks is using a double wide low boy trailer (bound together with a giant yolk on the hitch) to move his load.

In the summer there is a lot of construction activity and maintenance on facilities. There are rig moves like this one year round because many existing wells are sidetracked or worked over and this can be done year round. Exploratory drilling usually only takes place during the winter when ice roads can be put in over the tundra without damaging it.
