Nice to see. What part of W.Manitoba. I grew up outside of Altamont and that's where we took our grain, in an old 4ton side box, 3 or 4 trips a day during the harvest season. Things changed so fast, last I remember these trips were late 1950s, I'm 65 now but the hilites were Saturdays when all us young kids could take a trip to the elevator and go into the local store and get an ice cream and a Superman comic.......or an Archie comic for the girls......Double scoop cone was 4c, comic book 5c.......Bought together 6c. Even at that age we had to earn it.......picking apples and berries, collecting eggs, feeding poultry, swine, cows, killing rats and gophers etc. If you didn't get it done.....you were told on Saturday morning whether or not you got to come to town. Didn't happen too often but if one of us kids didn't make it on a Saturday, the rest would keep a little pocketful for the tearful one at home...........Thanks for sharing the harvesting dust...can almost smell it.......
