Stage One — Griffith University to Broadbeach Stage One of the project is the priority route from Griffith University (Parklands Drive, Southport) to Broadbeach. This 13 kilometre dedicated light rail corridor will service the new Gold Coast University Hospital, Griffith University, Southport medical precinct and the fast growing commercial, retail and recreational centres of Southport, Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach. There are 16 stations planned for the Stage One corridor. The Stage One corridor is well suited to accommodating dedicated east - west bus connections with high-quality interchanges planned for Southport and Broadbeach. Delivery of Stage One is scheduled for 2014.
