The M2 machine gun is one of the world's most reliable, highly accurate and effective weapons. General Dynamics Ordnance & Tactical Systems developed the M2A1 .50 caliber weapon after more than 30 years of experience manufacturing the M2 heavy barrel (HB) machine gun for the U.S. Department of Defense. The M2A1 offers the proven performance and in-place logistics support of the existing M2HB machine gun, along with the new features and design improvements of the quick change barrel (QCB) system and flash hider. These upgrades increase the performance of the battle-proven M2 and are adaptable to existing M2HB weapons. Why dose it have such low rate of fire?
-
The M2 will soldier on for another 50+ years no doubt. The army needs to improve the optics for it though to gain a substantial increase in effectiveness.

Very nice. With QCB kit you don't have to reset headspace and timing everytime you change the barrel.

unaccurate? carlos hathcock shot a vietnamese with an M2 2500 yards away.

It is very heavy and a bit unaccurate. Still first choice for vehicle usage, but aside of that it is unpractical.

it may be old. but why change it?
