This was done with a DPS - Trail camera that is built for this purpose. It only takes pictures from dawn to dusk and then shuts off. I was using it with 4gb, 8gb and 16gb sd cards and 8 AA batteries. The longest I was able to leave it was about a week with the 16gb, Each day produced about 2300 320k files in a new folder. Battery life ranged from 3 days (5 second interval on crap batteries) to 2 weeks (30 second interval on energizer batteries)

taking pictures every minute of every day, how long does it take for the batteries to wear out ? what size memory card do you use ? does the card fill up before the batteries wear out ?
