Some may say that calisthenics is more about strength and endurance but we all know deep down that Weights are the way to go !!! At least when it comes to a better overall athlete !!! Just have a look at Strength Wars !!!

Just do both

I do free weights. It's good for slimming down and they are just as hard done right. It's a good way to start. An example is doing pushups, situps, pullups, and abs. Then when you can do your 3x 40-50 pushups, 3-5x 10-15 pull ups, 2-3x 30-50 situps, then you can do some weights as well. I add running with this and work from 1 mile or 20 min or 2 miles or 25 min and depending on how much time you want to spend up to 5 miles a day. Running slims you down and with no weights, helps you not look disproportionate.

I've been in a gym for 10 years. After 10 years, I learned, the most important workout for men is pullups. Now I only do street workout in park and I've never looked stronger.
