Machines | Formula 1 - Honda RA107 Windtunnel Test - Nadine Geary
videos | at work | information | view | construction
The Honda RA107 in MIRA's windtunnel. Pretty rare footage, as full scale modern Formula One cars are rarely used for this purpose these days. Many thanks to Simon McBeath and Racecar Engineering Magazine for arranging this.

Was it sitting on scales? If it were do you have the weights (at all 4 corners) at speed?

It's used to show where and how the wind flows over the car. They do this to show how and where the most effective and non effective points are in the car. After doing that they can adjust the points on the car if necessary to reach optimum performance.

It is used to see where the wind goes on the car? By that i mean does it flow past the car or hit it and so on...

What is the purpose of the object the guy keeps holding in front of the car and what is it?
