Example of significant course instability and fish tailing for a towed ship model during students experiments in the first semester in the Vehicle Engineering program at KTH in Stockholm. The model is towed with a constant force with a thin line attached in the stem and is supposed to travel in a straight path. The combined effect of hull form, mass distribution and position of tow line attachment however results in something else.
