Still wonder why it takes a small army following to complete the job. no perfect way yet to separate the chaff, some of the clods and put the spuds in a pile or container. Cant dispense with kids or field hands yet.

BET THE FARMER has been here longer than you. The tractor was moving so slow it was safe to get off with it moving. If you get killed by a tractor moving that slow it was just your time. I don't have a problem with people doing this they know what they are doing. Bet you don't even have a tractor doctordud.

WOW that is a great crop of potatoes you have grown there. What kind of potatoes are they? The digger works great.

bueno muy bueno que lindas maquinas ,saludos

@psypc3 This one has had a reduction gear fitted as an extra. the "s" on yours is start. originally pushing the gearlever into the "S" position would have engaged the starter.

great vid and a pretty good crop of taters too! Thanks for posting!

Wish i had one of those.

Gonna be digging mine up today, and just needed to get psyched up for the task. Nice video, nice harvester. Looks like you got a nice crop that year. Damian

@drusselm Yes, this is how the machine came down new, obviously the belted chain has been replaced but with exactly the same belt, the side delivery attachment still has the original belt as my father never used it so it has remained as new in the loft and this is an identical belt. Thanks for your comment....Nick.

IT WAS THIS TYPE OF FARMING THAT BUILT OR PAID OFF FARMS. DAMN HARD GRAFT AND NO SPENDING ALL YOUR MONEY ON GERMAN CARS. the farmers since around 1980 have just been squandering the assets that their ancestors built up. SHAME ON YOU

I REMEMBER WHEN A POTATOE HARVESTER WAS SOMETHING YOU MARRIED, AND IT COOKED YOUR TEA AFTERWARDS. barh cri

NIGE has pulled enough bones out of old SAMRO'S TO MAKE 14 JERSEYMAN.

this may be true for someone with no motor function or athletic abitity. There are lots of ways to get run over by a tractor. why dont you go try one right now. every farmer needs to loose at least one apendage in the line of duty. if you dont you are just not lagit.

we don't want a safety speach. just watch how things were done.
-
There are a lot of things in farming that were very dangerous by todays health and safety conscious minds, but in those days this was common practise and no one used to think anything of it.
-
One way to get run over by a tractor! very dangerous and stupid to get on and off a moving tractor,
-
Lovely tractor, and good spud harvester too

A single row potato harvester, now that is a classic implement.
