8mm cine footage of farm life in North Norfolk, filmed at Waxham in the early 1950s. The first part of the film was shot in black and white and offers a snapshot of work and play on the farm. The second part was filmed in colour and captures the family and farm workers bringing in the harvest. Wonderful shots of the combine harvester in action (Massey Ferguson?) and bagging up the grain which was on its way to H.W. Burton and Sons at Stalham Staithe. This film is part of a collection of cine footage of Norfolk, shot by my grandfather Stanley Arthur Youngs between the 1930s and 1950s. Born and bred in South Norfolk and a baker by trade, my grandfather was also a keen amateur cine photographer with a passion for creating films of rural Norfolk life which he delighted in showing to people in a makeshift cinema in the bakehouse.
