Machines | Farmall McCormick International Harvester H Tractor Refurbishment Restoration Project

Sand blasted and then used Valspar Red Oxide Primer followed by IH 2150 Red paint purchased directly from Case IH. The ratio of 6 parts paint to 1 part reducer and 1 part Valspar hardner worked great. There are good schematics available for electrical rewiring but the big challenge is proper decal placement so I picked up a copy of Farmall Letter Series Tractors (Originality Guide) by Guy Fay to reference the old McCormick drawings for decal placement. Next will be new rear tires.........

Glad you still had the fenders as those usually get taken off and leaned up against the barn and forgotten.

Hi Nice to see the next generation restore a tractor, without these guys the hobby will die, I'm 41 and done quite a few old tractors i did my first at 14 . hopefully there will be more to follow from you guys. My dad and uncle taught me to drive tractors at 14,The legal age in the U.K. The first safety lesson was not put your thumb over the rim of the steering wheel to the inside, keep them outside the rim. If the front wheels drop in a hole the wheels can spin the steering wheel hard, then the steering wheel spokes whip round and take your thumbs off or break them. He's only young and other than that small safety tip, is driving very well to. please stay safe out there, and look after the next generation, we need them badly in this hobby as the old guys die off . Thanks for posting the video. Regards Robert
