2:43 why aren't their tugs for correcting ships courses??
-
FYI: The mules/trains, does not pull the ships ahead or astern, but are there to prevent the ships from moving sideways. The ships are moving forward on their own power... Just thought you should know...

How do I go about getting a job here? would probably have to start at first cleaning shitters and work my way up due to the fact I know nothing about canals; but it does look fun.

The Path Between the Seas: The Creation of the Panama Canal, 1870—1914 by David McCulloch is a fascinating book all about the construction of the Panama canal. Starting with the failed attempt by the French De Lessops (of Suez canal fame) to construct a sea level passage way, through to the USA completion of the canal using a lock and lake solution. Politics, dogma, face-saving, intrigue, financial trickery, revolution,.... it has it all. Well worth the time to read the 700 pages

I was hoping this would be informative, but it's really just a reality TV show.

Man, I hope they paid the terrible-analogy guy overtime for this episode. Soooooo many cheesy analogies. "Eight busses". "Four 747s" "The height of the Eiffel Tower".
Hey guy, we understand units, you can just just tell us the actual capacity or height in plain numbers. -
Fantastic workings of the canal, amazing! We will present this to our senior care home.
