Euclid R40 Dump Truck in action

A little more. These trucks have twin inline 6 6-71 GM Diesel engines. They just sound different than say, a V12 12V-71 engine as they go in and out of sync. Also this truck has straight pipes instead of exhaust piped through the box frame to heat it in the winter. We only heard the raw sound of these engines when the trucks dumped and the box exhaust was disconnected. Any other time it was muffled somewhat by the box frame. Of course when the truck was dumped, the pedal went straight to the floor on both engines to speed up the process. This is the real deal.

I grew up listening to that sound in the distance on hot summer nights. Man! Can't beat those twin Gimmies.
