http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ernie_Terrell Ernie was one of the most underrated, and great fighters of the oft remembered Golden Age of heavyweights. He was overshadowed by Ali, Foreman, and Frazier, and unfortunately, by the events building up to Ali-Terrell. In my mind, and I will expand on this thought in an article, he was exploited by the Ali, and Nation of Islam, public relations machine, for absolutely no good reason, other then a selfish one. To me, as much as I love Ali, calling somebody an Uncle Tom is 100 times worse then what Ernie did by accident. It is especially worse because in no way did he deserve being called that. On a boxing note, think on this. You can believe all you want about Ali trying to "punish" Ernie the whole way, but I think that is silly for two reasons. First, Ernie had to keep getting up, and fighting each round, and two, Ali was supposedly way more mad at Ernie then most of the other guys Ali fought in his career. Ali knocked out Foreman, Frazier, Liston, Lyle, Wepner, Foster, Patterson, Quarry, Ellis, Bonavena, Folley, Moore, countless others, yet, not Terrell, the man who supposedly insulted him so terribly. Good Luck Ernie, and thanks for the interview. More on www.boxingconfidential.com
