Machines | Epic Chinese Construction Fail w/o Heavy Equipment in Beijing, China
videos | at work | information | view | construction
I was exploring a hutong (traditional neighborhood) in Beijing, China, when I happened upon this unfortunate Chinese construction fail. The failure stemmed from a sheer lack of heavy equipment for doing this difficult job. These men were simply pulling concrete with all their might in the hopes of getting it to land on a hole. Needless to say, it was an epic fail. Bear in mind, this fail needs a little patience since it take awhile to develop...you need to wait about 80 seconds. Rest assured, it is well worth the wait.

I am a Civil Engineer and a Joint Health and Safety Worker Representative and I do not approve.

It's the oldest continuous culture on Earth, and there are 1.3 billion of them. They must be doing something right.
-
What they managed to do was pretty impressive, although what the guy did at 1:32 was pretty dangerous. It missed his foot by an inch!
-
No fail here. Can't get equipment in that tiny hole they were in. The video cuts off right before 20 Chinese works jumped down there and moved it the final 2 feet. It wasn't supposed to land perfectly aligns, although they wouldn't have minded if it did. The rails they rigged up were just to cope with a 1200lb object needing to be moved and a 4 foot drop in elevation. If this was in America in the same enclosed environment, a similar tactic would be used. This type of shit is used everyday to move heavy building supplies, safes and heavy furniture. It's Chinese workers using basic physics just like workers of any nationality would do.
That said, the cement may not be on par with our codes in the U.S., and the steel might not, either. But, basic shit like heavy moving isn't a fail or exclusive to any nationality. -
it looks like it would a been too hard to get any heavy equipment but they tried there best I hope they still got there jobs
-
This wouldn't have happened if they used children.
-
You laugh at them. At my fucking university it take americans 1 year to pave a short road. They spend a week to pave a road....

The idiots ragging on these workers obviously have never had to complete a task after the people above them refuse to give them the necessary equipment to do it properly. The people in charge simply demand "get 'er done" and head off to their golf game, already knowing who they will blame and who they will fire if it goes wrong. I thought these guys did a great job considering what they were given to work with. What none of you seem to recognize is that being Chinese doesn't mean "not" being human. Without the pressures of the bureaucracy and with the proper and minimal equipment necessary, these men would have done this smoothly and safely. The animal nature of the bigot is never far under the surface.

Isn't Chinese construction a Failure by definition anyway? ;)
-
He wasn't even close to being hit, there was no fail, you obviously aren't familiar with construction techniques in America because there are way more workers put in danger here then there were there, and yes their methods could have been more Orthodox, but they still did pretty good considering.
-
Really, there was no way to get some mechanical device into the construction site? I find that hard to believe. The methods these workers use to direct such a heavy object make me wonder about their value for human life. One of the workers was nearly hit by the sliding concrete block.
-
That block probably weighed around 1000lbs. There was also no way to get a crane in there. Also the shouting is only mindless because you don't speak the language. I work construction and while we never get this ghetto with our jobs, they still didn't have very much to work with and did pretty darn good considering.

As the wise Confucius once said, "Shout maniacally to bring a harmonious construction."

Meh

They'll be dominating the world in no time!
