It's Monday, August 18th, 2014, and the decades-long ride for this rare GRS Type AW signal is over. With new signals being cutover for the Sunnyside Plant, the dwarf follows closely behind the cantilever signal in being cutout and then torched off its base. This signal was known by train crews as a pain to see, being so low to the ground and often in bad light in the afternoon. Previously on TRRS, we've seen Marquette Rail Z151 call the dispatcher to confirm they were lined up after not being able to make out an indication. Also, being so close to the road, high snowfall and plowing by the City of Grand Rapids would create a snowbank inhibiting visibility of its indications. At any rate, the brand new Cantilever signal ought to be much more visible. Consist: - Cutover and removal of EAS Godfrey Avenue, Sunnyside Lead. Wires cut, bolts torched, removed by hand. Signal goes dark: 8:26 EDT (not shown). Signal Removed: 9:39 EDT Location/Time: - CSX Grand Rapids Terminal Sub, Grand Rapids, Michigan on 8-18-14 at times described above. Thanks for watching!
