As an owner operator I'm guessing this guy doesn't do his own repairs and/or doesn't pay for them. One good tailgate slap should break everything loose. If it doesn't get out and spend two minutes with a shovel. I also can't believe that guys drive away with the box still up. So much lateral stress on the dump pins, the frame of the box and the truck, not to mention the lateral strain on the hoist and the hoist pins. I understand wanting to work fast, but sometimes taking an extra moment now, will save a lot of time, stress and money down the road.

Gate slap is necessary to get the material out of the body. But clearly the driver needed to get in there with a shovel to loosen up that stuff on the driver side.
-
a good loader operator that keeps it off the hoist

hi hi

lmao I love the ending "How to piss off the neighbors"
-
yes it is, it's to get the metal in the bucket to shake to get all the dirt loose from it
-
Slamming the gate does break the stuck stuff loose most of the time, but the best reason I did it when I drove a tri-axle was to scare the people standing on the side that weren't expecting the loud bang, lol!!!

@Lahtinen34 Hydraulic gates are just another potential thing that could break and cost more money to repair than these types of gates. Plus with hydraulic gates u cant slam them like that to get some of the dirt thats stuck off.
-
Wouldn't it be easier to use a hydraulic tailgate as we do in europe?
-
@commanderpeter12 do you happen to be structurally unemployed ?
-
@RenzeZielman dumbass
-
@PeterbiltEXHD YES SIR u are correct also. And it's best to walk around the truck and check for loose rocks that could fall. thanks for the reply

@rnrchickenman Actually I did notice that, and the 3 tailgate slams at 0:54, you see none of the dirt that is left over sliding out. So, you know what that means boys and girls... Climb into the bed and chop it out with a shovel, as the dirt must be out of the bed at day's end. But if you no wanna shovel it out, you can always try to knock the dirt out by a load of stone, but then the dirt will be mixed in that load, and you wont carry as much on the next load, as the dirt took up extra space.
I dont see any compaction equipment around. One of the biggest problems with road (or street) construction is rhe lack of compaction. that highly affects the strength of the soil, special under heavy loads like repeated loaded trucks trafic. In high fill the bottom layers get compacted by the top ones, but thats not the case on the video.
