Machines | Dump Truck Looses Brakes Totaled on Impact
videos | at work | information | view | construction
Dump truck was hauling a load of Ceder bolts . The driver lost control on a steep downhill grade . When his brakes failed he plowed into a ditch at the bottom of the steep grade . We were approx 6 miles up Dell Creek road just east of Naselle WA . We used both the Z Kenworth and the International wreckers to recover the truck . I then towed it to Hoquiam WA .

You are lucky the truck was unloaded before you got to pull it out. I have did two (a long time ago) in similar country. One was a semi loaded with cattle that had pulled over to avoid a car and slipped sideways down into a drain and the other was superphosphate bulk spreader which had tripped over with 30 tons of fertilizer on the back. To get the semi up I used a triple snatch block from the winch to the trailer ,chained to several points and anchored the truck to a tree. With a 25,000 Lb Garwood winch I managed to pull the tree out .....

Good to see the IH back on the big screen again. When you get time it would be great to see a video doing a walk around of the entire fleet. Take care.

That old rig of yours is awesome. Have to love that old school iron and that jake brake barking down the hill :)

I want that engine

Lost its brakes? Highly unlikely. They would have automatically set when they got below 40 or 60 psi. He didn't lose them from fade either. The truck was not loaded and could not have had enough speed to overheat the brake drums.
