Machines | DUMP TRUCK FALLS THROUGH DOCK
videos | at work | information | view | construction
t The single axle truck was too heavy for the dock . The main support beam under the decking was rotten . We had to reposition one time to get the right angle for the lift . Caleb put the dump truck in low gear and drove forward as I picked . Nice team work Tye and parker a great help also . Wasn't sure if the dock would hold my truck . We cribbed under the spuds to disperse the weight over as many of the cross beams as we could get too .

That 5 ton was slightly overloaded with 12 yards in it no wonder it punched through the dock there was a lot of concentrated weight. The most weight I would ever put on a single axle is 8 ton they had close to 14 tons on that old Freightliner.

what the hell was this truck doing out here anyway? dumping gravel into the sea??
-
You going to pull me forward 15 feet" no" im going to pull you 2 feet then 10 feet ,cool lol
-
gin poles....
Changes angle of pull so you get more lift.
Might help on one that is stuck worse. -
These guys are lazy I could've shoveled all that shit out myself in less than two hours.
That's the difference between Russians and Americans. -
Asking if it was air brakes or disc brakes? Ya sholda known that right when you first got up there and viewed the underneath, I saw the brake pod (air brakes) right away.

cool

Awesome video thanks keep them coming.

Nice work. That was a tricky tow! Looked like a main beam rotted through. Old working docks seem to fail like that with no warning. The rest of the dock probably needs a lot of work.

George; Always look forward to your videos. After a Tow career that started in the 70`s I`ve thankfully thrown my last set of chains and fought my last driveline. My attitude about the industry taught me several ism`s: Listen to that little voice we all should use that tells us something isn`t right before you go ahead. My theory about the "out of the box" situations is that take, say 4 Competent Operators, similar equipment an operation may be done 4 different ways...And in my mind they`re all right because they`re done SAFELY. For a different firm`s videos, in a vastly different environment check out Mohica Towing here on YouTube. Palm Springs isn`t your coast at all.

that one got expensive quick. trucks out, everyone is safe, no additional damage done. that's always a success not matter what the keyboard jockeys say.
-
successful recovery what else can ya say...good work George!!
-
good job george that was a good call bringing in the mini saves a lot of time
-
I've been hoping for something other than a beach recovery lately and I was not disappointed. Great job on what looked like a tricky recovery!
-
Good job! My question is why would a gravel truck be on a dock?
-
To bad you never went back in the day light and showed the hole!

thank you for sharing these video's. Weather the internet trolls that think they know better, can do it better, yadda yadda, don't worry bout them, if they truly could do better, then they should turn off the putters , go find a tow truck and try and prove it, and a 2nd thing, I never have saved any ones youtube page before, you are the first and only page I get notices for, keep safe and keep em upright :)
-
man that was an ugly one George but you boys made a nice save!!
-
You have been around that area forever. Do you remember when the peter iredale was in a complete form?

ive driven a tow truck, i know you get in some situations, one i had was a 1/2 ton ford lost his left rear lugs with a cord of firewood, i had to tow him a mile to the shop to work on it. you did a good job with this. i sit here and say, youre doing it wrong, but it always works out, so i guess you did it right after all
